Managing Your
Profile:
| 1.
Why does my profile not show up in when I do
a search? |
|
The most
likely answer is that you have not followed the
instructions you received in your confirmation email
to confirm your profile. In order to confirm your
profile please go to http://www.punjabi-marriage.com/xuserok.htm.
The other
possibility is that you are using the wrong search
criteria. First check what you have entered in your
profile here.
Also check that you have entered your gender correctly
by going here.
| 2.
How do I add a photo to my profile? |
|
Just click
here
to add your photo.
| 3.
I get an error message when I try to add my
photo |
|
Make sure
that your photo is a .jpg or a .gif file.
Make sure that the file name of your photo does not
contain any spaces or punctuation marks
Make sure that the file name of your photo is not all
numeric.
Make sure that the file size of your photo is less
than 45Kb. If your photo is larger than 45Kb, then you
will need to go into your image software and open the
file. Select the "Resize" option then set
the longer of the two dimensions to 450 pixels. Then
save the file and try again. If you have difficulties
with this, go to the Help facility in your image
software and look for "Resize".

remove the photo from my profile? |

Contacting
People:
| 6.
How do I contact people? |
|
Use the
form at the Partner
Search page to enter your requirements.
Click on the button which says "Contact Me"
next to the profile you are interested in.
Enter your user ID and password.
If either you, or the person you wish to contact is a member
you will then be presented with a large box for
entering the text of your message.
If neither of you are members then there will be a
button labeled "I Would Like To Make
Contact". Click on this button and a message will
automatically be sent.
| 7.
How do I respond to messages? |
|
To read
your message, follow the instructions in the email
message you will have received.
If either you, or the person who sent the message is a
member
you will be presented with a large box for entering
the text of your message under their message.
If neither of you are members then there will be a
button labeled "I Would Like To Make
Contact". Click on this button and a message will
automatically be sent.
| 8.
What is the automatic message that I am sending
when neither of us are members? |
|
This is
the message that you are sending:
"I
found your profile on 1st Place Punjabi Matrimonials
and I am interested in corresponding with you. Please
have a look at my profile and let me know whether you
are interested or not. I look forward to hearing from
you. Best wishes."
When the
recipient reads the message they will also be able to
see your profile at the same time.
| 9.
How can I get a person's direct contact
information, such as the email address? |
|
You can't.
We keep all direct contact information strictly
private. Member's can send their own messages directly
to anyone on the system, and they are of course
welcome to provide their own direct contact details in
these messages, but we do not provide email addresses.
Problems
Accessing the Site or your Messages:
| 10.
My user ID and password do not work. |
|
That's
almost certainly because you are not entering them
correctly. Enter them exactly as they appear in the
email you will have received. Remember that they are
case sensitive so "Singh" is not the same as
"singh". Remember also not to enter any
extra space: "singh " is not the same as
"singh". If you have entered punctuation
marks in either your user ID or password, this can
also cause problems. Eg: my%id or my!pass will not
work. If you have entered punctuation marks in your
password you should try to change it, but if that does
not work you should delete your profile and enter a
new one.
| 11.
When I enter my User ID and Password, it just
asks me for them again. |
|
That's
because you do not have "cookies" enabled in
your browser. This site needs "cookies" in
order to be able to function correctly. Go to the Help
facility in your browser and search on "enabling
cookies". Follow the instructions to allow your
browser to accept cookies. Users of Internet Explorer
or Netscape can get further
instructions here. If you are unable to enable
cookies, then you can use the "classic"
version of the web site here.
| 12.
I have lost my user ID / password. How can I get
it back? |
|

| 13.
I have entered my profile, but it still says
that I am not a member |
|
Entering a
profile is NOT the same thing as becoming a member. If
you would like to become a member click
here
| 14.
I received an email saying I had received a
message, but when I looked, it wasn't there |
|
This means
that the person's profile was deleted after they sent
the message. They may have deleted it themselves or we
may have deleted it. We delete all profiles which
display direct contact information, or which are
engaged in fraud.
| 15.
I cannot see any new messages |
|
See the
question above. If the sender's profile is still on
the site and you are still unable to see the message,
then you are probably having a problem with your
browser cache. When you visit any web page, your
browser software keeps a copy of it on your computer.
If you visit that page again, it is much quicker for
the computer to show you the copy it has saved, rather
than looking up the page on the internet again. The
problem with that is that, if the page has changed
since you last visited it you will not be seeing the
newest version. You may be able to fix the problem by
pressing the Refresh button on your browser. If you
are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools / Internet
Options then click on Settings in the Temporary
Internet Files area. On the next screen make sure that
your browser is checking for newer versions of stored
pages either Automatically or Every Visit To The Page.

I cannot delete my messages |
|
This is
usually a browser cache problem. See the answer to the
previous problem.

Some of the ads are quite old. Are they still
valid? |
|
People are
responsible for deleting their own profiles when they
are no longer valid. Most people do so because they no
longer want to receive marriage proposals when they
are not looking any more. Many of the older ads are
still valid and if we discover that a profile is no
longer valid we delete it. Sometimes people change
their email address and do not keep us informed. In
these cases the profile will no longer be valid, but
we are not aware of it. Obviously this will be more
common the older a profile is, but it should not be
assumed that the majority of older profiles are
invalid.
